Fix 1600, 1604 Error in iTunes when upgrading iPhone Firmware

We have been getting lots of emails regarding the error window that pops up everytime you try to update your iPhone’s firmware to Jailbroken firmware via iTunes. This error pops up in Windows as well as Macs. The reason for this error is very simple. If you have updated to iPhone iOS 3.1.3 or iOS 4.0 firmwares but you had never jailbroken your iPhone, or you have not taken SHSH backups via Cydia – you probably are on the new bootrom and you won’t be able to install jailbroken firmware on your iPhone.

However, there is a solution available now which will let you jailbreak your iPhone without having to load jailbroken firmware via iTunes. We have posted about how to jailbreak your iPhone with new bootrom here. Let us know if it helps.
