Apple accessory company Twelve South have released one of the most bizarre products we have heard of in quite a while. The candle industry in the US alone is worth around $2.3bn every year and Apple is one of the most well-known brands in the world, making Twelve South releasing a range of “New Mac” scented candles the next logical step.
New car smell air fresheners have been around for decades, giving your vehicle an aroma reminiscent of when it first rolled out of the dealership, so we know that there is a market for such a thing. Also, there was unprecedented demand when these candles came onto the market, leading to them selling out within days. The Twelve South site currently says that there will be more available towards the end of the month.
Here’s hoping that they will be available in time for Christmas, so you can fill your Secret Santa parcel with something the recipient is guaranteed not to guess before they unwrap it.
The candle retails for just $24 and is 100% hand-poured soy wax, with a burn time of 45-55 hours. It comes with free shipping in the US.
You could spruce up your desk or home with the scent of a new Mac, but your guess is as good as any as to what that smell actually is. According to Twelve South, it has notes of Mint, peach, basil and lavender.
