5 Great Features of the ‘New iPad’

Apple surprised everyone again with a brand new iPad they announced on March 7th. It is called the ‘New iPad’, I know, a bit odd name. Whatever the name, it doesn’t change the fact that New iPad will become yet another popular device and change the way people use tablets. It has an awesome display and a 5MP camera slapped on the back. Here are some features we think are worth a while.

The New Name

It is kind of weird that iPad chose to call their new iPad, well, the ‘New iPad’. It is going to be confusing in the coming months. After all, do you get the New iPad or just the iPad 2, the later definitely sounds newer, right? But, in the long run it is a smart move. After all, the names of MacBooks and iPods aren’t ever changed. They just keep adding new hardware, improving features and of course increasing the price. If you want to buy a second hand iPad in the future, you will just have to refer to it with the year it was released in or just by the word “Generation”. We have to give Apple this one.

Retina Display

Everyone saw this coming. Second generation iPad had a resolution of  1024 by 768 pixels and the New iPad has a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels. It is an immense improvement. Check the below screenshot for reference.

As you can see, the resolution is something people will get this iPad for. It has the same resolution as a 40 inch HDTV. Colors on this display will be more vivid and text more detailed because of the resolution.

iSight Camera

The New iPad comes with a 5 megapixel camera that has improved optics just like the iPhone 4s’ camera.

It also has a backside illumination sensor that will take much better pictures in the dark. It has auto-focus and built-in face detection for upto 10 faces. Like the iPhone 4s, this one records 1080p videos too. It has automatic video stabilization for the shaky hands and for situations when you have to keep moving the camera.

LTE Technology

The New iPad is going to be Apple’s very first LTE supported device. That means it will support data surfing with 4G network support. 4G LTE, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA are the networks that are supported worldwide. You will get downlink speeds up to 42 Mbps with DC-HSDPA and up to 21.1 Mbps with HSPA+. You can also use the iPad as a personal hotspot. So, just tether the 4G connection with your laptop or your iPhone or the iPod.

Quad-Core Graphics Subsystem

The New iPad sports a Dual-core A5X processor and quad-core graphics.

With a system like this, the iPad will be able to run four times the pixels of iPad 2. This also helps in maintaining a fluid user-interface and “pixel-perfect performance”.

This New iPad is hitting the shelves on 16th March 2012. Make sure you pre-order yours before it is sold-out.
